ODOT Kicks off Road Construction Season

More Video...

It's that time of year again - orange barrel season.

ODOT kicked off the season at Merchants 5 Star on Route 7 Thursday morning.

A lot of road repair projects are starting up.

And across Ohio the department of transportation says there will be more than 900 construction projects.

That totals over $2.5 billion.

$10 million of those dollars are going to Washington and Monroe Counties to repair the roads and repave them this summer.

And Governor John Kasich says this will also be bringing jobs to the area.

This comes with Kasich's decision to raise about $1.5 billion for highway projects through the Ohio Turnpike bonds.

Some say that money will mean projects will be done sooner.

Others say it could mean higher toll prices at the turnpike.
