MIDDLETOWN, Ohio (AP) - Police are asking for the public's help to solve a brutal and unprovoked beating of a man at a Laundromat in southwest Ohio.

Police say 57-year-old David Jones was minding his own business Sunday in Middletown when an attacker came up behind him without saying a word and started viciously hitting him in the head with a stick.

The Cincinnati Enquirer reports (http://cin.ci/ZRo5HN) that Jones was able to grab the suspect's glasses and part of the weapon used to beat him before the attacker fled.

Jones was treated at a local hospital for head injuries that required 18 staples and five stitches.

Jones says he had never seen his attacker before in his life.

Anyone with information is asked to call Middletown police at 513-425-7724.
