They're members of the family... and the Parkersburg Fire Department wants to make sure our furry friends have a good Christmas too.
The department is accepting food and other donations for the Humane Society of Parkersburg's 1st Annual Holiday Pet Food Drive.
You can drop off canned dog or cat food, bleach, paper towels and non-clumping cat litter at any of the city's six fire stations 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The event kicks off today through Christmas eve.
"We wanted to think of an idea for the holidays to help the community and we realized that the Humane Society is always been helpful to the community," says fire chief Eric Taylor. "They struggle everyday to feed their animals and keep the place clean to shelter them."
There aren't a lot of resources to help the shelter, so the firefighters took it upon themselves to start a collection to get them some much needed supplies.
