Students at Parkersburg High School are ending the semester with a bang.
A freshman science class put their knowledge to the test by firing off rockets this afternoon.
The students spent the semester learning about the physics of a rocket launch.
They shot off the rockets on the front lawn of the school assessing how high it went and why it launched or didn't launch.
"The kinetic energy when it's launching up and the air goes up into the rocket and launches it up. And once it gets up to it's full height, the gravitational pull pulls it back down and it goes back down," says student Nicole Headrick.
Students say this is a fun reward for turning in their work and getting good grades last semester. They say it's great to see their hard work in action.
