Parkersburg Memorial Day Ceremony

The rainy start Monday wasn't enough to dampen the Memorial Day ceremony in Parkersburg.

The city held its annual Memorial Day ceremony at City Park.

A wreath was laid at the memorial to Wood County's World War II fallen soldiers.

Parkersburg Mayor Bob Newell and Wood County Commissioner Wayne Dunn were among the featured speakers.

Those in attendance say these events are important to remember and honor those who sacrificed for freedom.

American Legion Post 15 holds the ceremony each year.

As a part of the event, the post chaplain read the names of the members of post 15 who died during the past 12 months.
