Playing It Safe For The Kids

The Belpre City School District's Board of Education agreed to continue the Safetytown Summer Program for this year at their regular meeting Monday night.

The one week program is for incoming kindergarten students.

Kids learn how to be safe in their environments such as crossing the street and the importance of good and bad strangers.

It will take place at Belpre Elementary School from May 29th-June 7th.

All personnel expenses of the Safetytown Program are paid by the Safetytown Board.

"I was very happy about the proposal to continue with Safetytown, it's done a lot of good for the kids in the community and hopefully, we can be around for many more years," says Belpre City Schools Superintendent, Tony Dunn.

The Belpre Lions Club, United Way and Belrock Country Diner are among the sponsors for the Safetytown Program.

The board also approved the opposition to any legislation seeking to transfer public dollars to support private education.
