UPDATE: 5:20 P.M.

A domestic incident with a threatened suicide brought police to Princeton Street in South Parkersburg near noon Friday, and shut down traffic.

A man identified only as a military veteran, was brought into custody by police about two hours later.

He is believed to be suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, and immediately underwent a medical evaluation.

There were no shots fired, and no one was hurt.

"We were unsure for some time how this was going to end up," said Parkersburg Police Chief Joe Martin. "We're very thankful it ended up the way it did. There were weapons in the home, but none of them presented at law enforcement. That was some of the confusion."

Wood County sheriff's deputies helped out in the standoff. A Wirt County sheriff's deputy provided information to police.

The man has not been identified by police.

Parkersburg police are handling a situation on the south side of Parkersburg.
