ATHENS, Ohio (AP) - Campus police have found no evidence of a shooting at Ohio University after a report of a possible threat.

University spokeswoman Jennifer Krisch says authorities have given the school the "all clear" after the Tuesday afternoon report.

Police initially focused on Gamertsfelder Hall, which houses summer session students. They later expanded their search throughout the school's East Green, which had been evacuated.

The university says the East Green has been reopened for normal use.

OU Police say the East Lawn and residence halls have been reopened.

A police briefing is scheduled for 6:00pm.

ATHENS, Ohio (AP) - Campus police are investigating a report of a possible shooting on the Ohio University campus.

The university says police swept a residence hall Tuesday afternoon but found no evidence of a shooting. They are expanding their search throughout the school's East Green, which has been evacuated.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol and Athens police are assisting in what city Police Chief Thomas Pyle calls "an alleged shooting." He says there has been no confirmation yet of a shooting or injuries. A Highway Patrol spokesman says troopers were sent after school police requested help, but he had no other immediate information about the situation.

Police initially focused on Gamertsfelder Hall, which houses summer session students. It's not clear where the report originated.

The campus is about 65 miles southeast of Columbus.

ATHENS, Ohio (AP) - Campus police are investigating a report of a possible shooting at an Ohio University residence hall.

University spokeswomen say officers were checking on a report of a possible shooting Tuesday afternoon at the Athens campus in southeastern Ohio.

Spokeswoman Stephanie Filson said no victim has been identified yet, but police are sweeping Gamertsfelder Hall. She said the hall does house summer session students.

The university has alerted students to evacuate the area.

The residence hall on the university's East Green can accommodate more than 250 residents.

Athens Police Chief Thomas Pyle says his officers are assisting university police in investigating what he calls "an alleged shooting" on campus. He says it's not confirmed and he has not heard of any injuries.

The campus is about 65 miles southeast of Columbus.
