Severe weather is headed in our direction.

Rain and more rain Thursday, that continues into Friday.

Authorities are preparing for the worst.

The National Weather Service says the Ohio River may rise seven to ten feet, but it will still be below flood stage

Ed Hupp with Wood County Emergency Management says with all this rain, stay away from high water.

Six inches of moving water can knock a person off their feet and 18 inches can sweep a car away.

Hupp says they are monitoring everything but the worry comes Friday night when the temperature drops.

Hupp says they are asking people to watch the levels on streams if they live near one in the low lying areas or in the flood plain.

He says the predictions are always changing so they are following the weather updates as they come in.

If the flood watch changes to a warning, do not take that lightly.

And as always, remember turn around, don't drown.
