Protecting Plants from the Cold

It snowed Tuesday and a freeze warning is in effect for Tuesday night, even though we had 80 degree weather this weekend.

So those plants you have outside, make sure you don't lose them.

If you have plants outside that are flowering or leafed out, they need protection.

Greenleaf Landscapes in Marietta says if it has to stay outside cover it with a sheet or paper, something soft, not plastic.

Bring your potted plants inside.

"If you can't bring it inside at least bring it in close to the foundation of the house because the house will radiate heat off, and if you can put it on the protective side of the house so the wind doesn't prevail, sometimes that's more than adequate," says Dave Fleming.

Fleming says you can take the plants back outside probably around mid-day Wednesday.
