In a memo sent to Camden Clark Medical Center employees Thursday, President and CEO Mike King says a total of 21 employees are being cut from the Memorial and St. Joseph's Campuses.

Fourteen people are being cut from the Memorial Campus, while 7 are being cut from the St. Joseph's campus, according to the memo.

He says in the memo, "Patient volumes at Camden Clark have declined precipitously over the last couple of years".

He says in the memo he doesn't expect patient volumes to "rebound", "Therefore it is apparent that we need to adjust our staffing to meet the volume of patients at Camden Clark Medical Center".

King states in the memo steps have been taken in an effort to restore the hospital's financial health, but they aren't enough.

The memo indicates the positions are mainly in support services, including laboratory, imaging, respiratory care, housekeeping, bio-med and transcription.

Administrative positions in employee health, human resources, education and guest relations are also being eliminated.

King says in the memo that affected employees are getting a severance benefit.
