Training law enforcement for the SWAT team.
For almost 50 hours this week local officers are going through SWAT training to become certified. The officers spent time in an abandoned building this afternoon learning the tactics it takes to safely enter a building and secure the premises.
Officers will learn bus, car and domestic assault protocol, crisis management negotiations, firearms training and tactical planning.
"And when we teach these guys, we take a lot of pride and passion in keeping them safe and that in turn helps keep their own community safe when they're out doing these dangerous missions," said Sgt. Greg Collins, of the Parkersburg Police Department.
Tomorrow the officers will go through scenario training. Organized but "real life" simulations where they figure out the situation step by step and track down the suspect.
