School Closures Impact Learning

With so many snow days, it's tough on everyone involved.

Tony Dunn, superintendent of Belpre City Schools, says online assignments can't replace a kid being in a classroom with other students and teachers.

But it does help maintain some sort of flow.

"It keeps kids learning and in a school mode," he says. "And when you're off for as many days as we have been this winter, kids get out of the routine of doing school."

Dunn says then they have to spend time getting them back in that routine and spinning their wheels when they return to class.

February 14th and 17th were originally student days off, but in light of all the closings, school will be in session to make up some instruction.
