Sinkhole Forms in Marietta

Something missing in Marietta.

The pavement and the ground.

A large sinkhole developed Wednesday night in Marietta.

About 50 feet of the road caved in out on Channel Lane.

City workers say the road will probably stay one-lane only until repairs can be made.

This is not the first time this has happened.

Back in 2011 the same part of this culvert collapsed.

The roadway was actually resurfaced back in 2012, except for right over the culvert where the sinkhole appeared.

The city says there is a danger that paving equipment might damage the culvert.

They're planning to line the pipe that's there now with an extra layer of concrete.

This should ensure better water flow through the pipe and keep the roadways safe for drivers.
