A fire sprinkler system malfunction doused parts of the Kroger on Seventh Street in Parkersburg, forcing the store to close.

At about 4 p.m. Tuesday the sprinklers went off, drenching the office, accounting room, and the front part of the store

Shoppers were evacuated as a precautionary measure.

The Parkersburg Fire Department responded to shut off the sprinkler system.

A crew is working to clean up the water damage, and a store official told WTAP News that the store hope to re-open 7:00AM on Wednesday.

Anyone needing to pick up a prescription can pick it up at the southside Kroger until further notice.
