The Sternwheel Festival doesn't start till this weekend but the boats are already lining up along the river to claim their spot.
Right down on the levee at the Lafayette Hotel, boaters are have docked and are enjoying the sights and sounds as they wait for the big events this weekend.
Two boats had just traveled up from West Virginia and when the Sternwheeler moves at eight miles per hour, they say getting here ahead of time is nice and relaxing.
"We always come up here because my wife and I, we enjoy the atmosphere, we enjoy shopping in town, and everybody here is so pleasant to talk to. We have a lot of friends here in Marietta now," said Lou Wendell, boat owner from St. Albans, West Virginia.
"Everybody kinda has their space where they wanta be, and coming in is always fun," said Likan Cook, boat owner from Dunbar, West Virginia.
Boaters says this Sternwheel Festival is the biggest around and they can't wait.
Everything starts in downtown Marietta this weekend.
