Fracking has been an major issue for Washington County.

And one guest speaker wanted the public to know the effects it can have on a human body.

Green County Medical Society President, Doctor Deborah Cowden, was at Marietta College Thursday evening talking to people about the health effects of air emissions.

Those emissions result form hydraulic fracturing of natural gas and disposal wells.

Dr. Cowden also went over some of the conventional air contamination sources of horizontal hydraulic fracturing.

She wants the community to come together and come up with a plan to stop the fracking.

"Citizen groups can undertake things like talking to their own neighbors, their own neighborhoods, organizing their own neighborhoods so they would have a way to get information out," says Dr. Cowden.

Dr. Cowden also reviewed a study from the University of Colorado School of Public Health.

It was designed to assess local air quality in a region with horizontal hydraulic fracturing.
