UPDATE 12/5/2013 5:00 PM

This weekend on both sides of the river it's Christmas tree lighting time.

But the weather is not cooperating and some cities have moved, others changing the date of the lighting.

Williamstown's tree lighting is Thursday night; however, it has been moved inside to First Methodist Church's multi-purpose room.

Mayor Jean Ford says someone will be at the city building though for the count down.

In Marietta, they have decided to move their tree lighting from Friday to Saturday night and it will all start around 5:30 pm, with the loft tours to follow.

Parkersburg's tree lighting is still on schedule for Friday night.

UPDATE 12/5/2013 2:30 PM

Bad weather forces the postponement of Marietta's tree lighting ceremony.

The mayor's office says it has been pushed to Saturday, December 7.

The band will begin playing at 5:30 p.m. and tree lighting will be at 6:00 p.m. in front of the Armory on Front Street.

The ceremony was originally scheduled for Friday, December 6.

Signs of the holiday season are starting to show up everywhere.

Wednesday the Christmas tree was put up in Marietta and it's ready for the festivities.

Marietta city workers transported the Christmas tree Wednesday morning from Harmar Hill down to the front lawn of the Armory.

Mayor Joe Matthews chose between two trees this year, deciding on one from local resident Donna Marenchin.

City workers made the star themselves this year and Mayor Matthews says he is very excited.

The mayor says this Friday the tree will be decorated.

The tree lighting will be on Friday, December 6, followed by Merry-Etta Moonlight Savings.
