Two Arrested In Parkersburg On NYE; DUI Count Goes Up For The Year

New Years Eve kept Parkersburg Police busy, responding to over 162 calls and making two arrests.

Monday night police stopped a car for running a red light and going left of center on Seventh Street.

They noticed a strong smell of alcohol on the driver, Nicholas Proscia. He failed a series of field sobriety tests and was arrested for DUI. This is his second DUI offense.

It also brings the number of DUI arrests in Parkersburg up to 191 for last year.

On Monday night, police made another arrest.

They got a call of a disorderly man trying to set his truck on fire.

When they arrived, police say Gary Ferrell was acting frantically saying he was having a heart attack.

An ambulance was called to the scene and police say Ferrell became aggressive with paramedics. They say he shouted profanities and jumped out of the ambulance.

He was arrested for disorderly conduct and obstructing an officer.
