The United Way Alliance of the Mid-Ohio Valley announced Friday it raised more than $768,000 during its campaign which began last September and ended in March.
That's more than $46,000 than its goal for this year.
The United Way Alliance provides funding for numerous local health and human service agencies.
"And we also raised $11,000 for other United Ways," says Executive Director Joyce Mather. "That money primarily goes to the United Way of Washington County, the Athens United Appeal, and the Charleston United Way. And those are all donor-directed designations."
The increase came in spite of a drop in money pledged by corporations.
The United Way will begin planning in June for next year's campaign.
