The Wood County Deputy Sheriff's Association brightened the day for a lot of local kids with a picnic at City Park.

It was a chance for community kids to meet local law enforcement and get to know who's serving and protecting them every day. The annual event has delighted the valley for more than 20 years.

The deputies also held a drawing to give away bikes for kids of all ages. Many were donated by a generous local doctor.

"Couldn't do this without a lot of help from the community and donations when we do our fund drive," says Association President Dave Bussey. "Mcdonald's donates a lot of food and Papa John's pizza helps us out, but we do get a lot of support from the community and we really appreciate that. We like giving back and making these kids happy."

Bussey says the best part of it for him is seeing the smiles on the kid's faces when they win a bike.
