A tuition increase for West Virginia University at Parkersburg.

The increase will cost students a couple hundred extra dollars per year.

The school's board of governors approved the eight percent tuition increase Wednesday.

In-state students in the bachelor program would pay $300 more a year.

Out of state nearly $800 a year.

President Marie Foster Gnage says the increase is needed because of state budget cuts and a drop in enrollment.

Gnage says related fees would be mostly unchanged, or reduced in some instances.

The Community and Technical College Council also must approve the increase.
