Warren Fans Line Up for Celebratory Dinner

"Warren High School is on fire...if you want to say it that way,"says Athletic Director Fred Ruth.

A sending the varsity boys basketball team to state sparked a fire of red hot team spirit.

"I had never seen as many people as I saw at the convo last week supporting the Warriors. I saw people with blue on I had never even seen before in my life and I've lived in this school district for 26 years," says Booster's Club President Dave Buzzard.

"It means a lot just to know we have this many people and more to help us out and do everything they can to support us in everything," says Senior Evan Yabs.

One way their showing that support, by digging in to a spaghetti spread.

The Warren High School cafeteria was packed Tuesday night with family and basketball fans in a sendoff fit for state champs.

And that's just what they hope to become.

"I think we've gotten a lot better with what we needed to get better with to prepare for this team. They like to do a lot of full court pressure and I think we got a lot better in the past two days at practice with that. So I think we'll be ready," says Yabs.

But regardless the outcome Thursday night these boys are just excited for the experience and a chance to leave their mark in Warren history.

"I feel pretty good. I'm just glad we won. I'm thankful for all my teammates over here. I wouldn't have been in the position to make that play if it wasn't for them so I'm just really happy for me, my team, and the whole community," says Yabs.

A community that bleeds blue all the way to state.

The warriors play at 5:30 Thursday afternoon at the Schottenstein Center.

Tickets will be on sale from 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. at the high school on Wednesday. Tickets are $8 in advance and $12 at the door. The boys leave for the tournament at 1 o'clock Wednesday afternoon.
