The first day of spring means more dogs out and about getting that exercise.

But not all dogs are friendly.

New to Washington County, the Yellow Ribbon Dog Project.

Washington County dog warden Kelly McGilton says this is a way to show other people whether or not their dog is approachable.

A yellow ribbon on their collar or lesh means proceed with caution.

A dog could have a yellow ribbon for many reasons such as anixiety issues, not child friendly, medical issues, new to the handler, in foster care or maybe not to be approached at all.

Just a new way to keep our community, kids, dogs and their owners all safe.
