Ramona Rita Singleton, 83, of Parkersburg, loving wife andmother, passed away August 8th, 2012, at her residence withher daughter by her side.

She was born January 30, 1929, in Athens, Ohio, a daughter of thelate Alice and James Joseph Sr.. Her parents moved to Parkersburgwhen she was an infant and opened the Ole Spanish Inn on 7thSt and later the Hideaway on Juliana St.

Ramona attended DeSales Heights Academy and graduated fromMountain State College. She managed the Ormond Dress Shop on MarketSt for many years until her early retirement in 1975. She lovedmeeting her lady friends for lunch and bingo. Ramona loved totravel and shop for clothes anywhere but Parkersburg. She hasalways had a special pet over the years and leaves behind her spoiledrotten cat, Piewacket.

She is survived by her daughter, Monica Singleton, her twobrothers, Junior Joseph of Parkersburg, Don Joseph of Florida and herspecial nephew Butch Joseph of Parkersburg.

Her daughter wishes to thank the ex-employees of AmedysisHospice, Cathy Hart, Jessica Thomas, Jonathan Snider and all the aideswho worked with devotion and love to care for Ramona. Specialthanks to Dr. David Avery, Pam, Linda Sistrunk, Amanda Flowers, ShelleyEdwards and Sarena Ruble. It takes a village. Anyone who knewRamona will remember her quick wit and will always have funny stories totell about her.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by herhusband, Gene Singleton, who passed away May 25, 2012. They werehappy to celebrate their May 8th Wedding Anniversary marking63 years together before Gene’s death.

At her request, there will be no visitation or services. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Lambert Tatman Funeral Homeand Cremation Services, Pike St, South Parkersburg. A mass tocelebrate Gene and Ramona’s life will be planned at a later date atSt. Francis Xavier Church.
