Janet S. Brown, 89, of Parkersburg, W.Va. passed away November 9, 2012 at Eagle Pointe Nursing Facility.

She was born June 17, 1923 in Woodburn, Indiana, a daughter of the late Allen N. and Laura Johnson Sweet. She graduated from Woodburn High School with the class of 1941. She was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II where she served in the “Waves.” She retired from Kirby Monument Co. of Parkersburg where she was secretary, artist, and sales person.

She enjoyed her cats. Janet touched many lives in the Mid-Ohio Valley.

She is survived by a niece, Julie Schneider of Fort Wayne, IN; two nephews, Noel and Chris Horvath, both of Woodburn, IN; and a special friend, Elsie Hannah of Vienna, W.Va.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon in 2002; and three sisters.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home 3005 Grand Central Ave. Vienna, W.Va. with Dwane Porter officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Parkersburg, W.Va. with full military honors by American Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg. Visitation will be Tuesday, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
