Vivian was born August 6, 1931 in Newark, W.Va., a daughter of the late Elsworth and Rosa Virden Gabbert. She spent her childhood years in Newark, where she worked the farm with her father and mother. She was a 1950 graduate of Wirt Co. High School.
She was a homemaker and had worked at Rendor Bowling Lanes where she was well known for her pies and hot dog sauce. Her favorite times were with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved bowling, fishing, bird watching, cake decorating, ceramics and was a creative painter. She was a long-time fan of sports including the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Cincinnati Reds and Parkersburg South High School where she worked with the Athletic Association. She loved taking care of flowers and the yard.
Above all, she was a wonderful mother and grandmother and was dearly loved by her family and when introduced, she would always say, “Call me grandma.”, except for her nieces and nephews who lovingly called her “Aunt B”.
Vivian is survived by three daughters, Francine (Tim) Bauer, Sharon (Joe) Kuhl, and Debbie (Lester) Wingrove; one son, Charles “Chuck” Kidd, II; one sister, Carolyn Fluharty; four grandchildren, Vickie Kidd, Jessica (Lee) Johnson, Brian (Heather) Lee and Charlie Kidd; two step-grandchildren, Jared and Barbara Kuhl; and five great-grandchildren, Devon and Danielle Kidd and Brody and Myles Johnson and Kennedy Lee.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles E. “Knob” Kidd, her second husband, Kendall R. Kidd; three brothers, “Junior” Gabbert, Kenneth Gabbert, and Forrest “Buggs” Gabbert; a brother-in-law, Buryl Fluharty, Jr.; and a niece, Rosa Fluharty Braham.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at the Vaughan Funeral Home, 1010 Murdoch Avenue, Parkersburg, W.Va. Evangelist Randy S. Yerby will officiate and interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The family will received friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
