Ronald Eugene Mason, Sr., 62, of Belpre, OH, died December 6, 2012 at the Marietta Memorial Hospital after a long illness.

He was born June 27, 1950 in Parkersburg to the late Pansy Irene (Compton) Mason and Wesley Monroe Bailey; his step father was James Howard Mason who along with his mother raised him. He graduated from Washington Technical College, Reemelin High School-Belpre High School.

He worked at Universal Glass Co., aka National Bottle Company, American Cyanamid Chemical Company and Elkem Metals Company. He was a member of Oil. Chemical & Atomic Workers Local # 3-639; Chemical Workers Local #120; Glass workers Local #36. He also was the owner and photographer of R.E.M. Studio in Marietta.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Marilyn D. (Binegar) Mason, whom he married September 27, 1968; one son, Ronald E. Mason, Jr. and his wife Deborah of Parkersburg, WV; two daughters, Melissa D. Watkins and her husband James of Delaware, OH, Jennifer J. Wears and her husband Shane of Belpre, OH; five grandsons, Austin Henthorne, Tyler, Zachary and Ryan Mason, Corey Watkins; one granddaughter Courtney Wears; one great granddaughter Addison Mason; three sisters, Lucy C. Stephens and her husband Charles of Belpre, OH, Renee J. Schillings and her husband Norman of Baltic, OH, Robyn D. Hendricks and her husband Allen of Massillon, OH; three brothers, Robert D. Mason of Belpre, OH, Rodney E. Bailey of Massillon, OH, Dana M. Bailey of Massillon, OH; sister-in-law Beverly Mason of Belpre, OH; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Pansy I. Mason in 1982, stepfather, James H. Mason, in 1979; father, Wesley M. Bailey, in 1987; step-mother Wilma L. Bailey in 2003; two brothers, Gary D. Bailey in 2000, James L. Mason in 2011; his mother-in-law Verna M. Binegar in 1995 and his father-in-law, Kenneth R. Binegar in1972.

He was a long time member of Calvary Community Church and he was a born again Christian and believer in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Services will be Monday 1:00 pm at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Belpre with Pastor Kenneth Fullerton and Tom Leasure officiating.

Burial will follow at Eastlawn Cemetery in Marietta, OH.

Visitation will be Sunday 1-4 and 6-8 pm and Monday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
