He was born March 17, 1928 in Doddridge County, W.Va., to the late Wayne and Mable (Gain) Hill.
Jesse was a member of Rockland United Methodist Church. After graduating high school, Jesse served in the U.S. Army in Korea. He worked at G.E. as an Insulator in Maintenance. He was a Mason in the West Union AF and AM Masonic Lodge. Jesse loved to grow fruits and vegetables in his large garden. He had his own special way of growing the best vegetables. He loved making apple cider. He had acres of apple trees where he would blend the perfect mix of apples to make his delicious apple cider. He also enjoyed woodworking and rooting for the Cincinnati Reds.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Donna Jean Hill; two daughters, Judith L. Dunfee (Robert) of Little Hocking, and Barbara Jean Pittenger of Belpre: one son, Gerald W. Hill (Kelley) of Vincent; six grandchildren, Nic Dunfee (Jourdan), Brittany, Broc, and Bryce Pittenger, Ashley (Jason) Rittenhouse, and Chase Hill; and one sister Donna Dotson of Clearwater, Fla.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one niece, Jima Dotson.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Little Hocking Volunteer Fire Department.
The funeral service will be Saturday, Feb. 2, beginning at 11 a.m., at Leavitt Funeral Home, Belpre with Rev. Bill Dunfee officiating. Burial will follow the service at Rockland Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
