Wamsley, Avis Grace

Avis Grace Wamsley, 90, formerly of Pullman, Five Forks Community, passed away February 3, 2013 at The Willows Nursing Facility in Parkersburg. She was born May 1, 1922 in Ritchie County, a daughter of the late Brooks and Viola (Reed) Cox.

Avis was a homemaker and Methodist by faith. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially around the kitchen and dinner table.

Surviving is her son Hayward Wamsley (Rose) of Parkersburg and sister Nellie Grimm of Stow, OH and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Carson Wamsley, brother Durrell Cox, sister Edith Lipscomb and two infant daughters.

Funeral services will be Thursday 1PM at the Raiguel Funeral Home, Harrisville. Interment will follow at the Pullman Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday 6-8 PM and one hour prior to services.

The family would like to extend their deepest thanks to the staff at The Willows for the great care Avis received as a resident there.
