He was born April 20, 1984 in Durham, North Carolina, a son of Jenny Sue Whitlatch of Parkersburg and the late Lawrence Edward Wix.
He was 2002 graduate of Parkersburg High School and attended WVU-P and the International Academy of Design & Technology in Fairmont, West Virginia.
Alex enjoyed music and wrote several songs and he enjoyed gardening and loved animals. He was very talented in the field of electronics and could fix anything.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by one sister, Amanda Elizabeth Wade of Parkersburg; step-sister, Amber Robertson of Georgia; step-brother, David Darnell of Tennessee; his fiancé, Nichole Mollohan of Parkersburg; his grandparents, Don and Norma Whitlatch of Parkersburg and grandmother, Wanda Wade of Tennessee; step-father, Charles Douglas Wade (Sharon) of Tennessee; aunts, Amy Varner (Mark) of Charlottesville, Virginia, Ivy Whitlatch of Alexandria, Virginia, Linda Covey of Georgia; uncles, Clay Whitlatch of Parkersburg and Juan Contreas of Tennessee; and Cousins, Lakin Whitlatch, Sam and “Whit” Varner, Doug and Carolyn Beckett and Adam and Stephanie Covey.
In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by an aunt, Victoria Contreas and grandfather, Charles Wade.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral home, 400 Green Street, with Pastor Ralph Tisdale officiating. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
