He was born October 1, 1945 in Wick, W.Va., a son of the late Herman Delbert and Goldie B. McCune Owens.
Delbert was a US Army Veteran of the Vietnam War and he was a member of the Elks Lodge #333, American Legion Post #67 and a lifetime member of the VFW Post #6327, all of Sistersville. He was retired from American Steel in Alliance, Ohio.
He is survived by one daughter, Crissy (Jeff) Carpenter; loving friend and companion of nine years, Doris Bassett of Sistersville; two sisters, Phyliss (Jim) Hickman of Middlebourne, W.Va. and Judy (John) Smith of Sandusky, Ohio; and two brothers, Tom (Linda) Owens of Sistersville and Earl (Linda) Owens of Parkersburg, W.Va.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Violia Ferguson; and two brothers, Kahle Owens and Kenneth Owens.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at the Myers Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Sistersville, W.Va. with Rev. Bill Dawson officiating. Burial will follow at Paden Memorial Gardens, Paden City, W.Va. with military graveside rites. Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
