Mary Jean Wells, 86, of Amherst, OH, formerly of Pennboro, passed away March 30, 2013 at the Elyria Memorial Hospital in Elyria, OH. She was born November 24, 1926 on Yeager’s Run, Doddridge County, a daughter of the late William Elver Doak and Elsie (Woofter) Doak.
Mrs. Wells was a homemaker and had worked for the Lorain Steel Mill, Sutters Restaurant, S. S. Kresge and also as Rosie the Riveter during World War II. She was a member of the Toledo Road Church of Christ in Lorain, OH.
Surviving is her daughter “Susie” Brannon of Amherst, OH, son Samp Wells III of Amherst, sister Lenore McCullough of Pennsboro, two grandchildren: Missy Nunamaker of Overland, OH and Becky Clark of Wakeman, OH, and five great grandchildren: Alistair Duncan Nunamaker, Deirdre Paynter, James Nunamaker, Sydney Clark and Machaela Clark.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Samp Wells Jr., sister Juanita Costilow and brothers: Robert, James and John Doak.
Funeral services will be Thursday 11AM at the McCullough Funeral Home, Pennsboro with Evangelist Bob Eddy officiating. Interment will follow at the Buck Run Cemetery, Pennsboro. Visitation will be Wednesday 5-8PM.
