He was born in Parkersburg, on October 22, 1935 a son of the late J.
Donnley and C. Henrietta Teft Ankrom.
Jack was a decorated US Navy veteran of the Korean War and served as
an electricians mate. He had worked for Walker Parkersburg for
several years serving as a supervisor. He retired from the Corp of
Engineers after eighteen years, where had served as a lock and dam
operator at the Willow Island Dam.
He enjoyed the outdoors, golfing, camping and loved his pets. He had
a good sense of humor and enjoyed visiting with family and friends.
He was a member of the American Legion Post #15 and the Fraternal
Order of Eagles #2307 where he had once served as a trustee.
Surviving Jack are his wife of 21 years Geraldine Lann Ankrom, sons
Martin E. Ankrom of Parkersburg, Dan W. Ankrom of VA, four
grandchildren, step children Craig Lowe and Kim of Parkersburg, Junita
Emrick and Mike of Parkersburg, four step grandchildren, sisters Jean
Larose Young, Irma Donna Hudgins, both of Parkersburg, and brothers
James Ankrom and Rose of Washington, and George Ankrom and Ruth of
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister
The family wishes to thank Dr. Abhyankar, Dr. Vasan and Housecalls
Hospice for their wonderful care of Jack during his illness.
