Donnie L. Hersman, 66, of Parkersburg died peacefully at home on April 16,
2013 following an extended illness.

He was born Sept. 27, 1946 in Spencer, WV. He is survived by his parents,
Woodrow Lee and Dormal McKown Hersman; wife Rebecca, daughters, Nicole
Francis and Michele Hill, brother-in-law David Hively all of Parkersburg and
two daughters, Christy and Beth, both out of state. (grandchildren????)

Donnie's interest since a child was cars and after graduating from
Parkersburg High School he furthered his auto mechanics schooling in St.
Louis, MO. He was employed for 19 years at McClinton Chevrolet and worked
many more at Hertz Car Rental. He especially loved working on Corvettes and
on any given weekend his driveway reflected that. Donnie always had a
"project" car to restore and his patience earned him several trophies,
including judge's outstanding and 1st place at various car shows in
Parkersburg, Belpre and Marietta. When his garage became overcrowded, he
still collected, but on a smaller scale; a spare room became The NASCAR Room
with well over 900 die cast vehicles, all housed in beautiful cabinetry that
he had crafted. Donnie also enjoyed flea markets, relaxing with his cats
and spending quality time with his wife of 31 years.

The family would like to acknowledge and tremendously thank dr. Herrmann and
his nurse Lori who always was available, caring and king. Also, Helping
Hands for Independently Living Agency staffed by two of the finest, Margie
and Jodi, sent the most tender, loving and efficient home health aides:
Tracy Nash, Michele Hill and Carol Darlack to our home and our home became
one to them and they are all so very, very special and thanks seem so
inadequate. Although our time was shorter, thanks also to Jill and Joni
with Panhandle Support for being here. Housecalls Hospice provided an angel
RN, Missy Henry, such a short period of time, but the professionalism,
knowledge, and especially the unflappable support is so greatly appreciated.

Time of Sharing and Reflection to honor Donnie will be Friday 3 PM at the
Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg. The family encourages family and friends
come with a memory to share and to wear a touch of red, as it was his
favorite color.

Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be Friday 2-3 pm.

Memorial contributions are strongly encouraged by the family to Save a
Kitty, Feral Cat Program, PO Box 1442, Parkersburg, WV 26102.

Online condolences may be sent to the family at
