Nellie Mae Hughes, 92, passed away June 18, 2008, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Calhoun County, W.Va., the daughter of the late William W. and Dora Gorby Husk.
She was previously employed at Younker’s Manufacturing for 15 years as a press operator. She was an avid bird watcher and enjoyed flowers and cacti. She was a member of 10th Avenue Church of God in Parkersburg, W.Va.
She is survived by one daughter, Deloris Davis of Parkersburg, W.Va.; two sons, Lewis (Rose Mary) Hughes of Mineral Wells, W.Va. and Willis (Diane) Hughes of Vienna, W.Va.; six grandchildren, Vicki Hubbard of Maryland, Beverly Hughes of Dublin, Ohio, Cindy Walker of Maryland, Gina Hanna of Lubeck, W.Va., Scott Hughes of Vienna, w.Va. and Roger Hughes of Parkersburg, W.Va.; 13 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and her special best friend, Cricket, her poodle.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leo W. “Bud” Hughes in 1990; son-in-law, Richard Davis; grandson, Rodney Hughes; and eight brothers and sisters, Leonard Husk, Ellis Husk, Roy Husk, Ida Starcher, Georgia Jones, Icy Morris, Goldy Smith and Vergie Sampson.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike Street, Parkersburg, W.Va., with Pastor Gary Pack officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
