Glenda Lillien Stout, 68, of Parkersburg and Doddridge County, passed away May 10, 2013 at her daughter’s residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born December 19, 1944 at Coldwater, Doddridge County, WV, a daughter of the late Kenneth and Leona (Warner) Dennison.
She taught in Wood County Schools which include: Edgelawn Elementary, Fairplains
Elementary, Mineral Wells Elementary, Franklin Center, and retired after 35 years of service from Mineral Wells School.
She attended Coldwater Grade School, a single room grade school. She was the valedictorian of Doddridge County High School, Class of 1962. In 1965, she graduated from Salem College, with a major in Elementary Education, and a minor in Social Studies and English. She held a Kindergarten Certification through Glenville State College and a Masters in Reading through West Virginia University.
Her clubs and organizations included: Delta Kappa Gamma Women’s Society International,
South Parkersburg Women’s Club, WV Education Association, Wood County Education Association, WV Extension Service – Doddridge County CEOS, CURRYDALE Chapter, and was a member of the Indian Fork Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday school Teacher, and worked with The Prayer Quilt Ministry.
Surviving is her daughter Angela Harkness, of Parkersburg and son James Stout (Michelle) of Ellenboro, sisters: Delores E. (Dennison) Bonnell (Pat), Vada Dennison Garrett (Rod Zigan), Dorinda (Nay) Hawker (Bill), Starletta (Dennison) Lindsay (Steve), and Shiela Forrester (Robert), brothers: Robert C. Dennison (Patricia), Erwin Fouts, and Billy Edward Fouts, and step mother Geneva Dennison.
She also leaves behind five grandchildren: Dustin Harkness, Nathan Harkness (Kellye), Ryan Harkness, Regan Stout (Charlie Matthews), KayLynn Stout, and two great granddaughters: Brynley Harkness and Rilya Matthews and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James E Stout, brothers: Daniel Nay, James Nay, Kenneth Dennison, Farren Dennison, and Edward Dennison.
Funeral services will be Tuesday 11AM at the McCullough Funeral Home, Pennsboro with Pastors Dan Fisher, Roger Fontaine and Dave Cumpston officiating. Interment will follow at the Salem IOOF Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday 4-8PM.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or a Team of the donor’s choice in the Doddridge County Relay for Life.
