Mary Grace McIntyre, 86, of Cedar Grove Personal Care Center, Parkersburg, formerly of Sedalia Community, departed this life on Friday, Aug. 30, 2013, in the Camden Clark Medical Center.
She was born on July 21, 1927 in Pittsburgh, Pa., a daughter of Italian immigrants Giovanni and Mary Carmela Rocco Sirianni (Seriana).
On July 21, 1962, she married SFC Hezikiah "Mac" McIntyre at Fort McClelland, Ala., and upon his retirement from the U.S. Army they made their home in the Ashley Community. Recently she made her home at Cedar Grove Personal Care Center.
Surviving is twins, John McIntyre, Birmingham, Ala. and Marie Butler and husband John, Parkersburg; daughter, Christina Trent and husband William L. II "Slick", West Union; grandsons, Walker Trent, West Union and David J. "D.J." Perine, Parkersburg; one brother, Ralph Seriana, Pittsburgh, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind numerous friends. In addition to her parents and husband, 11 siblings also precede her in death.
Mrs. McIntyre worked for Joseph Horne's Department Store, Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company, Pittsburgh, and served as a Union Representative for The Pittsburgh Paper Company. Mary also held several part-time jobs while raising her family and caring for her father-in-law, Joab McIntyre. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Salem. She was very strong in her Catholic Faith and had served as a Catechism teacher and Eucharistic minister. She will be remembered by many for her sincere Italian hospitality and love of Bingo.
The family extends their sincere appreciation to Cedar Grove Personal Care Center, TLC Services, Dr. Nik Shah and staff and the Oncology Department at Camden Clark Medical Center for the love and care provided to our mom in her final days.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, Sept. 2, at 10:30 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Salem, with Father Alfred Obiudu as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Christian Church Cemetery, Center Point. The family will receive friends in the Spurgeon Funeral Home, 212 Front St., West Union, on Sunday, Sept. 1, from 4-8 p.m. There will be a Vigil Service at 4:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
