Reese L. Blizzard, 94, of Parkersburg, died November 9, 2013 at the Masonic Home, Parkersburg, WV. He was born September 22, 1919 in Parkersburg a son of the late Roy and Florence Porter Blizzard.

Reese retired from Hartford Steam Boiler Company as a special agent for the State of WV and later managed the Public Debt building for many years. He was a member of the PHS Big Red band in 1936 that won the national competition in Rhode Island that year under the direction of George J. Dietz. He was a US WWII Navy veteran and a longtime member of the First Lutheran Church. He was a member of the Mt. Olivet Lodge #3, a 32nd degree mason, past potentate of the Nemesis Shriners and charter member of the Ben Bey Grotto. He was also a lifelong member of the American Legion, Elks and Republican Party. He also served on the Board of the Salvation Army.

He is survived by his sister, Rose Longmire of Vienna; nephew Tom Longmire of Vienna and niece Linda Mason of Knoxville, TN.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Corbitt Blizzard; daughter, Anne Moore and nephew, Dale Longmire.

Services will be Thursday 1:00 pm at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg with Reverend Ian Reid officiating.

Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery with Masonic Rites by Mt. Olivet
Masonic Lodge #3.

Visitation will be 12-1 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
