Allison Elayne Ploeger, age 53, died at Kobacker Hospice House on November 15, 2013 after a courageous two-year battle with leukemia.
She was born September 29, 1960 in Orange, TX. She was the daughter of Gerald A. and Erlys E. Ploeger. She grew up in Parkersburg, graduating from Parkersburg High School in 1978. She then graduated from West Virginia University School of Journalism in 1982. After working as a reporter and weathercaster at WTAP, she moved to Columbus, OH, to start a career in advertising
She is survived by her parents of Loudon, TN.; her brother, Andrew and his wife, Cindy and nephews, Hayden, Jonathan, and Ethan of Aiken, S.C.; her sister, Alexis and husband, Mike Barton and niece and nephew, Avery and Jackson of Parkersburg; as well as many other relatives. She was preceded in death by her brother Arthur Ploeger and grandparents J. Kenneth and Nell Ableiter and Alvin and L. Leola Ploeger.
She had a great energy and love for life. She tackled every challenge head on with grace. She never forgot a friend.
The family wishes to thank her extended family of dear friends, many relatives and family members, as well as the Hospice staff and staff at the James Cancer Center for the care, prayers, cards, calls, gifts, food and visits.
A celebration of life will be held at the Heritage Christian Church in Westerville, OH on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at 1 p.m. Memorials may be made to the James Cancer Center at the Ohio State University for acute lymphoblastic leukemia research or the charity of choice.
