Roy Lee Martin, 91, of Parkersburg, passed away November 26, 2013 at his residence.

He was born in Montgomery County, VA a son of the late John R. and Nannie Turman Martin.

Roy was a World War II Army veteran having served in the 64th Medical Supply Unit from April 1943 through December 1945, His unit set up a five thousand bed hospital along an air strip. He was discharged with the rank of Technician fourth grade and was awarded the World War II Victory Medal, European Theater of Operations Medal, Asiatic and Pacific Theater of Operations Medal and Good Conduct Medal. He retired from Kaiser Aluminum of Ravenswood with twenty seven years of service as an electrician.

Roy was a member of the Parkersburg Masonic Lodge #3 AF & AM, 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Bodies, York Rite Bodies, Nemesis Temple of the Shrine, Parkersburg Chapter #14, Order of the Eastern Star, Elks Lodge #198, life member in the American Legion Post #15, VFW Post #1212, DAV Chapter #6 and NCO Club and the First Christian Church where he had served as a deacon.

Surviving Roy are his wife of seventy one years Roxie Duncan Martin, sons Roy Martin, Jr. and wife Angela of Mesa, AZ, Michael Martin and wife Joanne of Alexandria,, VA, grandchildren Katie Martin Maddux and husband Tim of Mesa, AZ, Michael Martin of Prescott, AZ and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by an infant son David Martin, brother Oliver Martin, sisters Kate Hall, Ruth Arey and Elizabeth Martin who died as an infant.

The funeral service will be 1:00 pm Saturday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg with Rev. Janice Hill officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery with Military Rites by American Legion Post #15 and Masonic Graveside Rites by Masonic Lodge #3. Visitation will be from 5 - 8 on Friday and 12 - 1 on Saturday prior to the service.

The family requests that memorials be made in Roy's memory to the First Christian Church 1400 Washington Ave. Parkersburg, WV 26101 or the Shriner's Hospital PO Box 2192 Parkersburg, WV 26102.
