Larry Ernest Marrs, 65 of West Union, passed away February 12, 2014 in Mobile, AL. He was born May 20, 1948 in Ellenboro, WV a son of Ernest J. Marrs of West Union and the late Bernice (Richards) Marrs.
Larry was well known in the Doddridge County community. He volunteered for many organizations and numerous boards in the area. He was a member of the Ritchie County Car Club and loved show cars. Larry organized the West Union Fest Car Show and donated all the proceeds to a worthy cause each year. He served on the Apple Butter Festival Board and organized a car show for the festival in Salem also.
Larry served in the U.S. Air Force and retired from the U.S. Army with 33 years service achieving the rank of E7, Sargeant First Class. He also worked for the Department of Treasury at the Public Debt in Parkersburg.
Surviving is his daughter Jenny Ensminger and her husband Matt of Coden, AL, brother Lewis Wayne Marrs of West Union, sister Lois Montgomery of Salem and grandchildren: Madison Ensminger, Coty Ensminger and Taylor Nutter.
Funeral services will be Tuesday 11AM at the McCullough Funeral Home, Pennsboro with Pastor Lee Montgomery officiating. Interment will follow at the West Union Masonic Cemetery with full military honors provided by VFW Post 3408 and American Legion Post 25. Visitation will be Monday 2-8PM and one hour prior to services Tuesday.
