Mitchell, Mary Lou

Mary Lou Mitchell 87, passed away February 25, 2014 at her home in the loving arms of her daughter and grandson.

She was born on March 5, 1927, grew up with 2 brothers and one sister. Mary Lou loved the outdoors, had beautiful gardens and spent hours taking care of them until she couldn't any longer.

She was very active in arts and crafts, her talent was amazing. She
also painted and enjoyed making things with her white rocks she would
collect in Canada. Her and her husband spent lots of time enjoying the Amish country of Pennsylvania and most of each fall season enjoying the beauty of Dyers Bay, Ontario, Canada.

On October 2, 1944 she eloped with her high school sweetheart, Lawrence Robert Mitchell to Gallipolis, Ohio where they were joined together for eternity. He was waiting for her with open arms to welcome her home.

Also waiting for her were her oldest daughter Victoria Kay Mitchell Harris Hutson, her parents Charles Edward (Eddie) and Mary Alice Hillard, her sister Virginia (Dottie) Maul and her son-in-law Charles Richard (Chuck) Harris.

She is survived by her daughter Jennifer Sue Mitchell (Parkersburg),
brother Robert Hillard (Beaver PA), Charles Hillard and his wife Betty whom she loved and cherished as a sister (Parkersburg), her #1 granddaughter Connie Sue Harris (Hotchkiss CO), Kathrine Renee Hutson (Montrose CO), Amanda Beth Koon (Ogden, UT), Suzanna Michelle Stone (Landon) (Montrose CO), and her only grandson Joshua Dewain Koon (Parkersburg), along with 7 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.

Mary Lou was a Girl Scout leader while her girls were young. In 1965 she attended Beauty College in Marietta and upon graduating began teaching at the Parkersburg Beauty College until in 1974 her mother became very ill and she was a Caregiver. After her husband passed in 1991 she was a caregiver for many individuals and loved each one whom she had the privilege of caring for.

Mary Lou was a member of the 7th Street United Methodist Church which she had attended since she was a small child. She was very active in her Sunday School Class and the Women's Circle.

She will be missed by many but is now reunited with her husband and
daughter.

RIP Mother Mitchell.

Services will be Monday 11:00 am at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg with Reverend Normal Butler and Reverend Tom McQuain officiating.

Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday 2-5 pm at the funeral home.
