Robert Lee Peters, 85, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away peacefully while sleeping on April 14, 2014 at Cleveland Clinic.
He was born October 31, 1928, in Parkersburg, a son of the late Horace C. and Elizabeth Jane Lemon Peters. Robert retired from Walker Machinery Co. and was a faithful member of the Church of Christ on Marrtown Road.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jean Atkinson Peters, whom he married on July 12, 1952; three daughters, Teresa Y. Johnson (Larry) and Cynthia L. Fleak (Ron), both of Parkersburg, and Angela J. Fluharty (Jeff) of Mineral Wells, W.Va.; one son, Robert J. Peters (Debbie) of Washington; a nephew who was like a son, Mark Peters (Loretta) of Waverly, W.Va.; three sisters, Elizabeth A. McCardle of Mobile, Ala., Susan J. Hennessey of Harahan, La. and Mary C. Stoneking of Walker, W.Va.;10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Richard E. Peters.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 19, at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Pike St., South Parkersburg with Evangelist Randy Yerby officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen South Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday, April 18, at the funeral home.
