John Bruce Holbert, 62, of South Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away on April 15, 2014 at Camden Clark Medical Center, Memorial Campus.
He was born May 12, 1950, in Atlanta, Ga., a son of Mildred "Lucy" Smith Holbert of Parkersburg and the late Carol M. Holbert.
John was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp and served in Vietnam. He was a self-employed contractor and enjoyed fishing.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his daughter, Bethany Holbert of Roanoke, Va.; three sisters, Debbie Conrad, Teresa Nuzum and Mary Joann Bennett all of Parkersburg; three brothers, Kenneth Holbert and Dan Holbert of Parkersburg and Raymond Holbert of Mineral Wells, W.Va.; two grandchildren, Shane Holbert and Kayla Holbert of Roanoke, Va.; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one brother David Holbert.
Memorial services will be held 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 17, at Hope Freewill Baptist Church with Pastor Bud Corbin officiating. Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home and Cremation Service is assisting the family.
