Paul R. Rippe, 82, of Parkersburg, passed away April 30, 2014 at the Camden Clark Medical Center Memorial Campus.

He was born in Elkhorn, WV, June 16, 1931 a son of the late John and Sopha Serway Rippe.

Paul had proudly served his country in the Marines. He had worked in the Chrysler plant in Michigan for several years. Retiring from the Wood County Board of Education, he had served as a teacher and worked in the board office for several years. He was a member of American Legion Post #15 Marine Corp League, Vienna Masonic Lodge #172 AF & AM and past member of the Shrine. Paul was a former member of Wayside United Methodist Church for forty three years and current member of Stout Memorial United Methodist Church.

Surviving Paul are his two daughters Renee` Dawn Harkness (Rick) of the Glendale Community, Michele Dainne Rippe of Elkview, three grandchildren, Matthew Wayne Harkness, Jonathan Paul Harkness, Scott Harkness (Lauren), two great grandchildren, Corynne, Averie, two sisters Julia Haluski of Columbus, GA, Pearl Anderson of Beaver Lake MI, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his wife Nancy Catherine Cronin Rippe in 2008, five brothers Mike, George, Pete, John, Jr., and Andrew Rippe, five sisters Emma Rusin, Sopha Tipton, Helen Narron, Mary Zeb and Anna Sizemore.

The funeral service will be at 2:00 pm Saturday at Stout Memorial United Methodist Church with Pastor Chrissy Reuhl officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery with full military rites by American Legion Post #15 and Masonic graveside rites by the Vienna Masonic Lodge #172. Visitation will be from 4 - 8 on Friday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg and for one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.
