The West Virginia University athletic department upgraded to the Big 12 Conference last year.
Now Mountaineer Athletic Director Oliver Luck wants to upgrade the athletic department facilIties.
This morning in Morgantown, the Mountaineer Athletic Director outlined plans for 106 million dollar improvements to the facilities for the athletes and the fans.
The projects include a new 150 person meeting room for the football team. The concourses for the football stadium will be widened and improved.
There will also be work done on the coliseum...the home of the Mountaineer basketball team. The concourses will be expanded and new bathrooms and concession stands will be built.
The money will be raised with a $75 million dollar bond issued by the University and backed by revenue the school receives the Big 12 TV contract money. The Mountaineer Athletic Club will donate $25 million dollars. And $6 million dollars is coming from a donation from IMG, the media rights holder for the Mountaineer football and basketball broadcasts.
Lucks says the improvments are needed and necessary to keep WVU a first rate program.
