Ten individuals who had an impact on the region's sport scene were honored tonight with induction to the Mid Ohio Valley Sports Hall of Fame.
The 12th Hall of Fame Class was enshrined during ceremonies at the Grand Point Center in Vienna. Each year the MOV Sports Hall of Fame recognizes the outstanding contributions of athletes, coaches, administrators and officials in a 7 county area in Ohio and West Virginia.
This year's honorees include:
Bill Bonar- former coach at Marietta High School.
Jimmy Buzzard- a sports legend at Pennsboro High School, earning 12 varsity letters.
Jeff Corder- a championship wrestler and All State football player from Ravenswood High School
Joe Crislip- coached Parkersburg South to its first ever WV boys basketball championship.
Andi Daniels- was a 3 sports champion at Parkersbug High School and earned a full scholarship at Fairmont State
Sam Guinn- a youth baseball, basketball, and football coach in Marietta.
Jack Jones- track coach who led Williamstown to 2 state championships and 10 LKC championships.
David Miller- a state champion wrestler at Parkersburg South who went on to wrestle for WVU.
Rick Petty- a Kennedy Award winning football player for Williamstown who rushed for over 5 thousand yards in his career
And David Winans- a Hunt Award winning football player of for Parkersburg High School.
It was an evening of memories, emotions, and achievement
The Hall of Fame festivities continue tomorrow.
The inductees plaques will be unveiled in the Hall of Fame Display case at the Grand Central Mall. The reception begins at 12:30 Sunday afternoon and the public is invited.
