Half Marathon Winners

For 21 years now the Parkersburg News and Sentinel Half Marathon has brought runners together from across the country and around the world for a challenge and a chance for a championship.

Today a field of close to a thousand runners was ready for the Test of a 13 plus mile run.

As in years past, an international contingent dominated both the men's and women's races.

The third time was the charm for Alene Reta of Ethiopia. After finishing second for the last 2 years in a row, Reta took first place with an 11 second margin of victory.

Sharon Cherop of Kenya had never raced before in the United States. She made a great first impression, winning the women's half marathon with a margin of nearly a minute.

The top American male finisher was Josh Ordway. While the fastest American woman was Rebecca Michael
