Another exciting night of racing highlighted the action at Billy Jarrell's Skyline Speedway where Jimmy Nier picked up his third Skyline win of the year in the OVSCA sprint cars, Chris Carpenter picked up his fifth Skyline AMAR Late Model win, and veteran Robbie Evans claimed the AMRA Malta Windows Modified main. Ryan Wilson claimed win number ten in the Pure Stocks, Tommy Adkins claimed the Four Cylinders, and Will Holland grabbed the Mini-Wedge Main.

In the 410 sprit car main veteran Charlie Fisher in the B&J Welding and Contracting #22 took the early lead ahead of teammate Jimmy Nier. By lap three Andre Layfield was moving on the high side and working on a pass for the top spot. Layfield made the pass for the lead only to have a caution wave and relegate the young driver back to third.

On the restart, Fisher blitzed into the lead with Nier in tow and now Keith Baxter working hard on Layfield. Baxter moved into third as the pair gave chase of Fisher. By lap 19 Nier ran down Fisher for what proved to be the winning pass. A lap later Baxter moved into the catbird's seat and closed in on Nier, but the Piketon, Ohio driver surged on to the win.

"I'd like to thank B&J Contracting, J&W Welding, New Beginning's Ministry, All-Pro Heads and give all Glory to God," said Nier in victory lane. “Man, that Andre Layfield is going to be good. He came out of nowhere and it was a fun race and a challenge to race with Charlie Fisher. I was just hoping for the white flag as Keith and everyone closed in."

Dave Dickson and Kory Crabtree were co-hard chargers of the race. Rounding out the top ten were Jim Nier, Keith Baxter, Charlie Fisher, Andre Layfield, Kory Crabtree, Dallas Hewitt, Dave Dickson, Mitch Harble, Greg Mitchell, and Sam Ashworth.

Late Model and Sprint fans paid tribute with a moment of silence for the passing of legendary Audie Swartz, father of Charlie Swartz and grand-father to car builder Audie Swartz, his namesake. The veteran driver and winner of hundreds of sprint car features, including a second in the first Knoxville Nationals made him one of racing's all-time best. Audie is also the grandfather of Sprint driver Jimmy Stinson.

While some tracks have been struggling to keep up car counts, Skyline continues to average 30 cars a race in the potent Late Model Division with 28 on hand for Friday night's show. Chris Carpenter has found a few secrets in the Rocket Chassis shop and put them to good use. The Parkersburg driver and up-and-coming star was once again near-perfect in posting the win over a star-studded field of hard-charging late models. Carpenter tamed the efforts of another young star and multi-time winner Chris Garnes with one of the region's all-time greats Larry Bond charging from eighth to third. Despite a ride over one of the infield uke tires early on, Ralph Withem was flying on the inside groove in his Swartz Chassis.

While Scott Wolfe was shuffled back from fourth, Roy Roush and the father-son Burdette team of Jeff and K-C were on the move. Bub Crum was on the move into a top ten after starting deep in the pack in his B52 Rocket.

Rounding out the top ten were Chris Carpenter, Chris Garnes, Larry Bond, Ralph Withem, Jeff Burdette, Roy Roush, KC Burdette, Scott Wolfe, Bub Crum, and DJ Cline. Jeff Burdette was hard charger of the race in a 14th to 5th run, while Bub Crum charged from 17th to 9th.

Robbie Evans has had some good finishes this year, but Friday night was Evans' night as he tracked down early leader Doug Henry and Kenny Johnson, making the race winning pass with two-laps to go. Jeremy Blake had a good early run, then came back to get Johnson for third. Mike McPherson had a great top five run. The top five cars dashed and darted for position making a great show for the fans.

A very happy Evans roared into victory lane after a stellar run. Darin Roush was the hard-charger with a 14th to 9th place run. Rounding out the top ten were Robbie Evans, Doug Henry, Jeremy Blake, Kenny Johnson, Mike McPherson, Rick Venham, Matt Holcomb, Jeremy Roush, Darrin Roush, and Curt Stacy.

Curt Reck had to be looking for the white flag about two laps before it fell. He knew that somewhere ten-time winner Ryan Wilson in the Wilson Energy car was lying in wait. Reck led the early go for 13 laps only to have the crafty Wilson pull off yet another win. Ryan Wilson, Curt Reck, George Klintworth, Shelly Powell, Jerrad Willis, Ben Ayers, Shawn Estep, Gary Gould, and Jake Swain rounded out the finish.

Tom Adkins chased down Chris Lauer and rode on to the win in the Four-Cylinder main. Throughout the pack the Four-Cylinders once again put on a great show. Rounding out the top ten were Tom Adkins, Chris Lauer, Randy Wise, Scott Neal, Jeff Rankin, Barry Kitts, Terry Gilkey, Steve Brown, Randy Fryar, and John Rankin. Will Holland claimed the Mini-main over Will Holland, Abby White, Jason Gillian, Cameron Roush, Cole Mayle, Samantha Roush, Skylar Zimmerman, and Samantha Roush.

OVSCA President Billy Jarrell has filled the void left from a race cancellation by adding Tyler County Speedway's quarter-mile Bullring to the schedule to once again make it a double-header weekend of consecutive $2,000 to win 410 Sprint car races. More information will be released soon on this week's upcoming July 9 (Skyline) and July 10 (Tyler County) racing. Each race features $200 to start.
